When you join Scouts, you’ll be introduced to lots of new activities, people and things.

Section Leaders
Hello! My name is Tim, I am the leader of the 58th Reading Scouts. I volunteered for the role 4 years ago and i’m loving every minute! I became a leader to help my son during his time as a Scout and have started on as he has progressed on in Scouting.
My view of Scouting is simple. When young people join, that is how I treat them – young people. Not children, young adults.
Each term we work with the group to hash out a plan for the months ahead. Taking their ideas, moulding them with the Scouting principals into weekly Scouting sessions.
We work to teach the Scouts life skills. While we still tie knots and read maps, we learn to cook, change a car tyre, rewire a plug and climb the occasional tree!

Scouts start small but think big, always challenging themselves to do more and be more. It starts with an award. Who knows where it might lead?

Uniform and badge placement
You don’t need a uniform to join. But once you’ve settled in, you’ll start speedily earning badges, and you’ll need to know where to put them!
Our leaders will help you when the time comes
Scout leaders
All of our leaders are trained volunteers working to make Scouts the best it can be, but we don’t just need swashbuckling adventurers to lead our expeditions. We also need tidy-uppers and tea-makers and great listeners from all walks of life – for as much or as little time as they can spare.
